We made history, but we're not stopping there
I have one question for you: Are you in?
My name is Susan Danzig. If you're reading this, your name—along with mine!—is probably one of the more than 400,000 names in OFA's permanent record of those who helped make health care reform a success. That's history.
Now the second open enrollment period for Obamacare is almost here. It's the next big chance for the millions of Americans who still don't have insurance to get covered, and we need to make the most of it. But we’ve got to hit the ground running when enrollment begins again on November 15th.
Right now, all you need to do is answer this question: Are you in?
Thanks to the tireless efforts of volunteers across the country, 10 million people gained health coverage during the marketplace’s first annual open enrollment period—including my daughter. And many of those people have insurance for the very first time in their lives. Millions more have access to coverage through Medicaid expansion, or the option for those under 26 to stay on a parent's plan.
We did that—one letter, one phone call, one donation, one tweet, one door-knock, one email, one Facebook post at a time.
But it's our job to make sure the story doesn't end there. That's what the second enrollment period is all about.
